DIY Suit Jacket Alterations: tailor a blazer at home

Today we are talking about DIY suit jacket alterations. My son recently graduated and I was after a white linen blazer for the ceremony, but I could not find one with the fit I wanted. I did find one that fit in the shoulders and only needed a few tweaks. As you can see in the before photo, the jacket had a boxy, oversized fit, and I wanted more classic lines, so here is how I altered it to shorten the sleeves, shorten the hem, and take in the center back. Blazers can seem intimidating, but they are like anything else in sewing: take it a step at a time.
