DIY Earbud Holder: Free Tutorial. Picking out the fabric takes way longer than actually making the Ear Bud Round. This is a quick and simple project, so here we go.
Supplies
5—5” squares of fabric (4” - 4 1/2” will work but I have a whole bunch of charm packs and they measure 5”).
A 3 1/2” across round object to trace the circle with. A lid will work nicely for a round template.
Sewing Machine (I like to slightly shorten my stitches so that it sews a smoother circle).
Neutral Thread
Pinking Shears (or not—don’t go out and buy them but they are nice to have for this project).
A pokie thing to help push and smooth the seam once the circle is turned.
An Iron
Select 5—5” squares. One will be on the back and it will show the most.
Fold and iron 4 of the fabrics in half, leaving the one you selected for the back, flat.
Now arrange the fabrics, back square, right side up, then “weave” the other four fabrics on top. Be sure that the folded edge is facing in (raw edges on the outside).
Secure together by pinning all layers together.
Draw a 3 1/2” circle, making sure to center it. You won’t see the line once it sewn and turned but I use a disap-peering pen, just in case.
Now head to your sewing machine. Shorten your stitch length, so that you are able to sew a smoother circle, and sew all the way around on the drawn line.
Here is where I like to use pinking shears. Trim away the excess fabric. The pinking shears will give you a smoother circle when turned, and you will have less bulk. If you don’t have pinking shears, simply trim with regular scissors and maybe give it a few snips around the perimeter to allow you to turn it more easily.
Reach inside and turn the whole thing right side out. Use your pokey stick (that’s a technical term) to smooth out your circle before you nicely press it flat.
Now insert your ear buds, toss them in your purse and away you go
