Holiday Plush Reindeer

Holiday Plush Reindeer - The Ribbon Retreat Blog

Hi everyone!
I am beyond thrilled to be sharing this Holiday Plush Reindeer tutorial with you today!
My name is Heather, and I blog over at Twin Dragonfly Designs where I share all kinds of fun projects, tutorials and recipes often geared toward my twin boys.

I have to say that I love, love, love this Soft Cuddle fabric from the Ribbon Retreat.  You have got to get some and feel how super soft and cuddly it is!  I could hardly put this cute little guy down after he was all sewn together.
Seriously, he is so FLUFFY!!!

If you want to create a super cute and cuddly Holiday Plush Reindeer of your very own, here is how…

You will need:
less than 1/3 yard of soft cuddle {I used cappuccino}
less than 1/4 yard cuddle {I used camel}
scraps of cotton material including white and black fabric
{I love this red chevron material for the holidays ~ perfect}
poly fill
misc. sewing supplies

1. Cut all of your materials using this free pattern.  The body of the deer measures 12″ x 12″ ~ you will need two pieces of the soft cuddle material this size.  Try not to snuggle the material as you work ~  I dare you!

2. Sew the ears and antlers together ~ right sides facing with a 1/4″ seam allowance.

3.  Invert the ears and antlers.

4.  Sew the features onto the front of the body of the deer.  Sew the heart onto the backside of the deer.

5.  Stuff the antlers with poly fill and top stitch a border around the ears.

6.  Pin the ears and antlers to the body of the deer as shown.  Pin the back of the deer body to the front ~ right sides facing.  Sew around the entire deer body ~ be sure that the ears and antlers get sewn between the layers.  Use a 1/4″ seam allowance.  Leave a 2″ hole for inverting.

7.  Invert the deer, stuff with poly fill, sew the opening closed and trim all the thread.
