The Long Romper Pattern For Mid Season Dressing In Style

long romper

This is the new long romper pattern. I think it's the perfect combination of comfort and convenience –a must have in any wardrobe.  The number one request I get is for more comfortable, easy going, and good-looking clothes.  A few people have suggested to me that the Salina Easy Romper would be even better as a long romper, so that's exactly what I've done.  The pattern has been a big hit in Australia where summer is just around the corner so think everyone there for their fantastic suggestion.

I have modified the original pattern and have eliminated sizes 22-24-26 because the pattern on those sizes requires a fair amount of pattern adjustment that I am not sure people will want to get into.  It is also not that long so you will have to adjust to your desire length of body. But, as always do let me know if you are willing to make the pattern in those sizes and can record the results.  We can certainly then add those sizes.  But please keep in mind it would have to be someone with an hourglass figure to maintain consistency with the other sizes.

Autumn is finally here or it may be spring depending on where in the world you are.  It is my favourite time of the year, warm days and cool nights.  The leaves are changing colours or flowers are blooming.  Either way, the colours are breathtaking.

Spring or Autumn is also the time when we start to prepare for the last part of the year.  Kids going back to school, carpooling, parties, school activities, and family gatherings.  There is a lot to do before the end of the year and we require easy-going, easy-to-make, and good looking clothes.

long romper

This long romper pattern can be made easily, with simple fabrics and the end result is an item of clothing that can be used at the office, a party, a brunch or curled up by the fire with a book in hand.

The elastic waist makes it easy to put on and make.  The spaghetti straps to keep you cool-

and the overlapped fabric is for hiding the fact that you either are not wearing any bra or have a few pounds to disguise.

If you have been reading my posts for a while now you will notice that I specialize in making anyone look a few pounds lighter.  I can assure you this is what you will find with this long romper pattern.

Wear it with a cardigan or jacket and heels and you are ready for the office or a lunch with the girls.  A wide brim hat and sneakers get you ready for a sporty day in the sun or a trip to the fruit market.

Materials:

  • traditional challis, silk, cotton batiste, rayon, crepe, and bamboo or one-way stretch fabrics or any fabric with a loose weave
  • 1 to 1 1/2 yards of 3/8″ elastic thread to match
  • light fusible interfacing

How To Print The Long Romper Pattern

Use the latest version of Adobe Reader with Landscape and Actual Size settings when printing the pattern.  We do not ask you to download any additional software to be able to print the pattern.

The top is the same as the Salina Easy Romper, the pants are longer, however you will have to adjust then to your legs as they are they are above the ankle.  (to save paper)  So if you have downloaded last week project all you have to do is download the new pants pattern this week.  In any case, both the top and long bottom are both in this new pattern file.

How To Fit Your Long Romper Pattern

Please bear in mind this is the same look but not the same pattern.  The legs are narrower than the Salina Romper.

Before you decide what size you are going to print, please measure your body.  You will need your breasts, waist and the widest part of your hips and leg length. You will have to add to the legs length.

This style romper does not have a zipper so you will have to slide your romper through your hips all the way to the shoulders.  Allow at least two inches for ease.

The pants will fall around 3″ above your ankles add the length according to your taste.  Do understand had I add the length you would have to print 5 more pages at home.

How To Sew Your Long Romper Pattern

You will sew the same way as the Salina Easy Romper, so please just refer to that article and tutorial for the instructions to go with this new pattern.

Before you decide to cut your fabric, please do take the time to make a muslin.  In the comment section below please leave the type of adjustment you need to make this long romper pattern work for you.

Hope you are enjoying the change in the weather and are preparing for the winter ahead. Until next time, happy sewing!

This is exactly the type of romper I want, but I will make it 2 piece to make it a faux romper, easier to use the bathroom. For summer a linen blend or a rayon blend. For fall or spring a slightly heavier knit.

I loved this, although initially didn’t think it would fit even with the adjustments, I ended up making it without the flounce and it’s still flattering – thank you!

Hello, I would like to have the larger sizes too, please ! I made the Salina Romper, the hoodie, the sweatpantq and all three were perfect with just minor editing !

I typically make a blend of RTW sizes 22-26. I Due to my atypical shape, I almost always have to make pattern adjustments. If 22-26 were included, it would naturally be easier to adapt. I just felt that I should add my vote for those sizes. You’re very gracious for developing the pattern in the first place, so don’t feel obligated.

Reach out to my niece-Sierra. She tests patterns for Cashmerette and some others. You have lovely patterns. She sews beautiful creations in ideal fabrics. She might test for you. Her size is in the 20’s.

this is very cute but I’ll need to do some more fitting to make it work for me. the legs were 4″ too short and I’m only 5’4″, so add length if you’re more than 5′ tall. I ended up cropping my muslin to be capri length and it’s nice! I’ll also take in the sides of the legs a bit and lengthen the front flounce next time.

Can’t wait to make this! If my bust is 33.5″, hips 36″- would I make a 6 or 8?

Hi, I am a bit unsure to choose my size. I hope you could help me. My bust is 36 inch , waist 32 & hip 42. Is size 10 will fit me? Thanks

I am a bit confused by both this and the shorter pattern…. is this a one-piece jumpsuit style? Or is this a two-piece meant to worn together? If this is a jumpsuit, with a floaty “overtop”, they it’s magnificent. If it’s a teo-piece, then I have zero interest in making this unless to be work as pajamas.

How do you use a public restroom without getting your romper on the dirty floor?
It is a cute look but not practical from that standpoint.

Love this design. I made the Salina romper and I think the long pants will be a good addition too. Thanks so much!

Umm… larger sizes too, please. If you are of a larger size and want the cute patterns, you are used to playing with patterns and fit to make it look good. But it always helps to start with something made for your size!
