The Bia Bag – FREE Pattern

Bia Bag

Make this Bia Bag with a free pattern. One pocket for each thing, phone, compact, pens, nail file, key loop etc. and two large zippered pockets.


The pattern has over 40 color photos showing every step of making the bag, but basic sewing skills are probably good to have as there's a lot of little steps =)


  • 12″ of 1/4 Wide Elastic
  • 1/2 Yard Exterior Fabric (the linen)
  • Closure device for front pocket (could be magnetic, snap, button, velcro or other closure of your choice)
  • 1 Fat Quarter Decorative Fabric (patterned blue and white)
  • 1 Set of bag handles
  • 22×15″ of Very Stable Interfacing (Fast 2 Fuse)
  • 1 Fat Quarter Lining Fabric (the solid blue)
  • 1 Small Snap Hook for keys (if you want one in your bag)
  • 2 8″ Pieces of lace, ribbon or similar for edges on inside pockets (if you wish)
  • 3 Zippers, two 10″ and one 13″.
  • Any other decoration or hardware you might wish to add
  • Pins
  • Matching Thread
  • Sewing Machine
  • Binding Clips (are good but not necessary)

    I am so happy to find this pattern. It offers a minimized bag to carry what I need. I am going to try to make it w/ 1 hand & 3 fingers that are not casted. I need simple handy; this looks like it. No problem with downloading the directions. I don’t want to quit now as I have had minimal use since 12/6/16. New thumb joint 4 weeks ago.

    I love having lots of pockets in my bags, especially one for each item. I did just downloaded the pattern and I haven’t made it yet. That being said, I don’t think I will have any difficulty constructing this bag because the directions look very clear & well written. Heading to my fabric stash now….
