You will need a few measurements before you begin. First, measure the fullest part of your body. Divide the number by 2, and then add seam allowances. Next, you want to determine the fabric height. Measure from the top of your shoulder to where you want the dress to fall. Then add the seam allowances.

Ready for the tutorial? The amount of fabric you will need is based on your fabric width, but 1.5 yards should be plenty. And you need some elastic for the waist.
